Dallas Stars centre Tyler Seguin was forced to leave the team's game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night after suffering a lower-body injury.
The 31-year-old was cut above his left knee when he collided with Sabres forward Jordan Greenway during a play more than halfway through the first period.
Seguin immediately left the game and was visibly limping as he headed to the Stars' locker room. The team announced he would not return shortly afterwards.
After the game, the Stars did not have an update on his condition but reporters in Buffalo spotted Seguin on crutches.
The Brampton, Ont. native has 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) in 64 contests this season.
Dallas won the game 10-4.
