Tributes poured in on social media Thursday for legendary hockey broadcaster Bob Cole, who passed away at the age of 90.
Cole, from St. John’s, N.L., worked on Hockey Night in Canada for 50 years.
He was a Gemini-award winning broadcaster, a member of the Order of Canada and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996 as a recipient of the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for broadcasting excellence.
Cole was also a curler and skipped Newfoundland at the Brier in 1971 and 1975.
Friends and fans from the hockey world and beyond expressed their condolences and shared their favourite memories of the one and only Cole.
