The Utah Hockey Club will have to close out their game against the Panthers a man down on their blue line.
Olli Maata was ruled out of Friday's game against Florida after suffering a lower-body injury, the team announced.
It's unclear how Maata suffered the injury, but he left the game in the second period and was ruled out for the start of the third.
He played 6:17 of ice time and had one hit before exiting the game.
The 30-year-old defenceman was acquired in a trade from the Detroit Red Wings in October. In 62 games with Utah, he has two goals and 13 assists, averaging 20:21 of time on ice per game.
Over his 12-year NHL career, the Finland native has 42 goals and 150 assists in 753 games split between five different franchises.
