Jack McBain's wallet got lighter on Wednesday.
The Utah Hockey Club centre was fined $4,166.67, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for high-sticking Montreal Canadiens' Brendan Gallagher, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced.
The infraction occurred moments into the second period of Utah's 5-3 loss to Montreal on Tuesday, and McBain was issued a two-minute minor penalty for the act.
The 25-year-old Toronto native has made 43 appearances for Utah this season, logging 15 points (10 goals, five assists) in that span. McBain's yet to miss a game this season, and his point total ranks eighth on his team.
Utah returns to action on Thursday, hosting the New York Rangers.
