Vancouver Canucks, TD Bank agree to jersey sponsorship

The Vancouver Canucks announced Saturday that they've signed a multi-year sponsorship deal with TD Bank that will see a green TD patch adorn the front of their home jerseys.

"When considering our jersey partner, it was important to us that we team up with an organization that shares our values and is invested in the community," said Michael Doyle, president, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations.

This is the first season that the NHL has allowed sponsorship patches on game jerseys. The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed a deal with Dairy Farmers of Ontario, while the Montreal Canadiens have a partnership with RBC.

The TD patch will also be incorporated into the Canucks' practice jerseys.

The NBA, NHL, and MLB all now allow jersey sponsorships, with the NFL being the only major sport in North America left holding out.
