  • Vegas Golden Knights name Adin Hill starting goalie for Game 5 vs. Dallas Stars

Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy has named Adin Hill as the starting goaltender for Game 5 Wednesday in their first-round Stanley Cup Playoffs series against the Dallas Stars.

Logan Thompson was in net for all four games previously, with the series tied 2-2.

The Golden Knights won the first two games on the road in Dallas before the tables were turned and the Stars took the next pair in Las Vegas.

Thompson posted a 2.35 goals-against average and .921 save percentage over his four starts.

Hill backstopped the Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup last year posting an 11-4 record, 2.17 GAA and .932 save percentage with two shutouts over 16 games during the playoffs.

"The decision is, at the start of the playoffs we figured we'd probably use both goaltenders," Cassidy told reporters. "It's how we ran our team this year. You never know how it's going to play out. I thought Logan has played well, put us in a good spot, it's 2-2. He's done his job.

"Adin's been through this, so that's a little bit that goes into the decision. He's an experienced guy that's come into this situation before."

The tandem posted nearly identical numbers during the regular season.

Thompson played 46 games with a 25-14-5 record, 2.70 GAA and .908 save percentage while Hill appeared in 35 games and had a 19-12-2 record, 2.71 GAA and .909 save percentage.

Watch the Stars host the Golden Knights in Game 5 live on Sportsnet and SN+ starting at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
