Macklin Celebrini already has a big-name fan in the Bay Area.
Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green made the case for the San Jose Sharks to take the highly-touted prospect first overall in this year's NHL Draft and spoke about how much of a fan he is of the Boston University forward in a video posted to Bleacher Report's Open Ice account on X.
"I know the San Jose Sharks should be drafting Mack and he should be coming back to the Bay," Green said in the video.
Green has had his eye on the forward for some time now, adding that he watched some of his play with the Terriers this season in College and even tuned into some of his games with the Chicago Steel in the USHL in the 2022-23 season.
"Been an absolutely incredible experience watching him grow since the time he came here at like 11 or 12 years old," he added. "Seeing him put the work in with his father each and every day and the focus he has for a 17-year-old is unmatched by any 17-year-old I've ever seen.
"It's been an absolutely incredible experience watching him grow."
For those unaware, Celebrini's connections with the Bay Area run deep. His father, Rick, has worked with the Golden State Warriors since 2018 as their director of sports medicine and performance.
Celebrini also played the 2019-20 season with the San Jose Sharks' Jr. hockey program, making for a potential full-circle moment should they select the consensus No. 1 prospect once the draft rolls around.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has also mentioned how talented he believes Celebrini will become.
With a full list of big-ticket supporters already set up in the Bay Area and the chance to play back in his adopted home, the fit between Celebrini and the Sharks could be perfect.
