Rewind to just over a week ago and the Toronto Maple Leafs, along with their devoted fanbase, were feeling on top of the world after the team defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Fast forward to present day, and very little of that joy and hope from Round 1 remains now in this series against the Florida Panthers.
The Maple Leafs have put their post-season run in an extremely precarious position after falling 3-2 in overtime on Sunday to put the Panthers up 3-0 in Round 2.
One more win for Florida and it's all over for Toronto.
And while the Maple Leafs could still battle back and stay alive to take it in Game 7, it's probably safe to say the chances of that happening don't feel so high right now. Only four times in NHL history has a team won a series after trailing 3-0, and it last happened in 2014.
Unsurprisingly, fans of the team were quick to take to Twitter post-game to express their disappointment — a stark contrast to the celebrations from Game 6 vs. the Lightning.
A large subsection of the reactions on social media, meanwhile, were from those who took the opportunity to rub the loss in for Leafs fans, mostly referencing their "We want Florida" chants prior to the Panthers eliminating the Boston Bruins in Round 1.
Then there were those on social media with much less emotional investment, but who still expressed their surprise that things have gone so sour, so quick.
Here's a look at some of the best takes from Game 3.
