Wild acquire Oskar Sundqvist from Red Wings for fourth-round pick

The Detroit Red Wings have traded forward Oskar Sundqvist to the Minnesota Wild for a fourth-round pick in 2023.

The 28-year-old is on the final season of the four-year, $11-million deal he signed with the St. Louis Blues in July 2019, which carries a cap hit of $2.75 million.

Originally a third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012, the Swedish centreman has spent the majority of his NHL career with the Blues and was part of the Stanley Cup-winning St. Louis squad in 2019. In fact, he put up his best individual stats the year the Blues won it all, registering 14 goals and 31 points that season.

In 52 games with Detroit this year, Sundqvist has seven goals and 21 points.
