The Minnesota Wild have called up Zane McIntyre and Nic Petan after Filip Gustavsson and Kirill Kaprizov sustained injuries that will keep them out of the lineup, according to Michael Russo of The Athletic.
Kaprizov left Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in the third period with an apparent lower-body injury after receiving a cross-check to the back.
The Russian was hurt in the third period as the Wild were attempting a late comeback against the Jets. Kaprizov was battling for the puck along the boards when Jets defenceman Brendan Dillon cross-checked him from behind. Kaprizov continued to fight for the puck until Dillon landed another that appeared to hit on the left side of his lower back.
Gustavsson left after two periods, also with a lower-body injury, according to the team.
The Swede's absence likely means that Sunday's rematch between the teams will be veteran Marc-André Fleury's 1,000th NHL game. Saturday’s relief appearance was Fleury’s 999th.
