The Minnesota Wild lost their No. 1 defenceman to an injury on Tuesday.
Brock Faber exited Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Blues after he appeared to tweak something in the first period and missed the final 9:42.
Faber didn't return for the second period and then was ruled out for the remainder of the game with what the team said was an upper-body injury.
Faber is an important player for the Wild, who are currently second in the Central Division.
He leads the team with over 25 minutes of ice time per game and has 20 points from the back end. He was the youngest player selected to represent the United States at the upcoming 4 Nations Face-Off.
Faber was a finalist for the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year last season.
