The Minnesota Wild will honour goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury during a game against the team the future Hall of Famer began his career with.
Fleury passed Patrick Roy for second on the all-time wins list when he collected victory No. 552 on Monday in a 5-0 defeat of the Islanders.
The Wild will host "Marc-Andre Fleury Night" when they host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 9.
During the special night, the Wild will honour Fleury for his 552nd win and for becoming just the fourth goaltender to appear in 1,000 games with a pre-game ceremony. That celebration will include a $5,000 to the charity of Fleury's choice. Additionally, Wild players will wear special commemorative jerseys with Fleury's name and number on the back and those jerseys will be autographed and auctioned off for the Minnesota Wild Foundation.
Fleury was selected first overall in the 2003 NHL Draft by the Penguins and played his first 13 seasons in Pittsburgh, winning three Stanley Cups. Fleury then joined the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft and played half a season with the Blackhawks before being traded to the Wild in 2021.
Fleury now has a 552-342-94 record in 1,007 career games (978 starts) across 20 NHL seasons with a 2.59 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage and 74 shutouts. The 39-year-old has not said yet whether this will be his final season.
