Minnesota Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek did not travel with the team for a divisional matchup against the Winnipeg Jets because of a broken nose.
Eriksson Ek left Saturday's game against the Seattle Kraken after defenceman Adam Larsson caught him in the nose with an elbow. There was no penalty called on the play.
The injury occurred in the second period and he played one shift wearing a bubble shield on his helmet before leaving the game again.
The 27-year-old has a goal through two games after registering a career-high 30 goals and 64 points last season.
Unfortunately, the team will also be without defenceman Jared Spurgeon who is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The 34-year-old recorded an assist and played 19:33 of ice time against Seattle.
The game against the Jets marks the start of a seven-game road trip for the Wild.
