Minnesota Wild defenceman Jonas Brodin will not practice Tuesday and has entered COVID-19 health and safety protocol, the Wild have announced.
Minnesota (19-9-2) is hosting the St. Louis Blues (17-9-5) for the NHL’s Winter Classic game on Saturday. The Wild have already ruled out Jared Spurgeon (lower-body injury) and Joel Eriksson Ek (upper-body injury) for the unique outdoor contest at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins.
Brodin has 14 points in 28 games while playing heavy minutes for the Wild this season. Under current NHL protocols, if Brodin returns a second postive test the blue liner will be out of action at least 10 days.
In his stead the Wild have called up 21-year-old defender Calen Addison, reports NHL.com’s Jessi Pierce.
For the AHL’s Iowa Wild, the righty has nine points in 17 games and in six NHL games he has scored one goal.
