Minnesota Wild defenceman Jonas Brodin will miss "significant" time with an upper-body injury, as first reported by The Athletic's Michael Russo.
Brodin was injured in Friday's loss to the Edmonton Oilers after being on the receiving end of a big hit from Oilers forward Evander Kane.
Kane appeared to hit Brodin from behind early in the third period which caused Brodin to leave the game. There was no penalty assessed to Kane on the play, but Wild forward Ryan Hartman did receive a retaliation penalty for going after Kane.
"The Wild are obviously upset that there was no penalty on the play," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said on Saturday Headlines. "No supplemental discipline as well."
Kane told reporters after the game that he did not think the hit was dirty.
"I don't think I drilled him in the numbers," Kane said after Friday's game.
One of the Wild's top defencemen, the 30-year-old Brodin has one goal and eight assists in 25 games this season.
