Will NHL punish Knights' Pietrangelo for leaving penalty box for game-ending scrum?

The NHL figures to have a further look at what transpired during a wild end to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final on Saturday night.

In particular, the actions of Vegas Golden Knights star defenceman Alex Pietrangelo could be examined after he left the penalty box to get involved in some post-game fireworks with the Florida Panthers.

After the Panthers pressed hard for the equalizer, the buzzer sounded to end a 3-2 Golden Knights victory -- before players from both teams started fighting.

Pietrangelo, who was in the box for a delay of game penalty he took with 18 seconds remaining, exited the box to get involved in the skirmish.

The three-time all-star got tangled up in a heated confrontation with Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk.

“I think they’re going to look at it," Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman said after the game. "I don’t want to say which way or the other they might go on this. But I do think they’re going to take a look at it because technically you’re not supposed to leave the penalty box and do that. I don’t know if it’s going to go anywhere but I do think they’re going to look at it.”

Tkachuk was assessed minors for roughing and slashing and a 10-minute misconduct for the after-the-buzzer craziness, while Pietrangelo was not penalized.

Florida's Brandon Montour also got a charging minor and a 10-minute misconduct, while Vegas goaltender Adin Hill was the only Golden Knights player to be penalized -- two minutes for roughing.

The Golden Knights lead the best-of-seven series 3-1 with Game 5 set for Tuesday in Las Vegas.
