Ilya Samsonov's playoff debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs lasted just two periods.
Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe inserted Joseph Woll into the team's net to start the third period with the team trailing 6-2 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.
Samsonov gave up six goals on 29 shots, including four on the power play, in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal.
The Lightning scored one goal with 2.6 seconds left in the first and another with 0.1 seconds left in the second.
Woll came into the playoffs as the backup with Matt Murray sidelined after suffering a concussion.
Goaltending was seen as a possible concern for the Leafs heading into the series with the Lightning employing one of the best in the league in Andrei Vasilevskiy.
