Beck Malenstyn, Sabres avoid arbitration with two-year, $2.7-million deal

The Buffalo Sabres and Beck Malenstyn got things sorted at the negotiation table. 

Buffalo is signing the forward to a two-year, $2.7-million million contract in order to avoid arbitration, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported Tuesday. 

Malenstyn, 26, was acquired via trade from the Washington Capitals on Day 2 of the NHL Draft in return for the 43rd-overall pick. 

The Delta, B.C., native put up career highs in goals (six), assists (15) and games played (81) as he established a role for himself at the NHL level. Overall, he has tallied eight goals and 15 assists in 105 games scattered over four seasons. 

He won the Calder Cup with the Hershey Bears in 2023 and picked up four goals and four assists in 20 playoff games during the run.
