The Chicago Blackhawks are in danger of starting the 2024-25 regular season without goaltender Laurent Brossoit.
Brossoit underwent successful meniscus surgery in his right knee and he is expected to be fully recovered in five-to-seven weeks, the team announced Wednesday.
The Blackhawks’ first game of the regular season is Oct. 8, exactly six weeks from Wednesday. So, Brossoit’s status for Chicago’s first game is certainly up in the air.
Brossoit signed a two-year, $6.6-million deal with Chicago this off-season. He joined Petr Mrazek in the Chicago goaltending room.
Last season, Brossoit was 15-5-2 with a 2.00 goals-against average and .927 save percentage for the Winnipeg Jets.
The 31-year-old has a career 2.64 GAA and .911 save percentage in 140 games with the Edmonton Oilers, Jets and Vegas Golden Knights.
