The Chicago Blackhawks have extended forward Cole Guttman to a one-year, two-way contract worth a $775,000 cap hit, the team announced Thursday morning.
The five-foot-nine, Northbridge, Calif., native made an impact with the Rockford IceHogs in 2023-24 netting 16 goals and 24 assists through 39 games. It was an improvement on his his total from the previous season where he collected 30 points in 39 games.
His performance in the minors earned more trust with the pro club’s front office throughout this latest campaign. Guttman was called upon and suited up in 27 games with the Blackhawks throughout 2023-24, scoring four goals and four assists. A year prior, he played in 14 NHL games, scoring his first career goal late in a tight game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The former sixth-round pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2017, Guttman was signed by Chicago as a free agent coming out of college in 2022, following four seasons with the University of Denver.
