Blue Jackets re-sign Yegor Chinakhov to two-year contract

The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed forward Yegor Chinakhov to a two-year, $4.2 million contract.

Chinakhov had 16 goals and 29 points in 53 games this past season with the Blue Jackets.

“Yegor is an outstanding young player who has shown steady improvement over his first three seasons with the organization,” said president and general manager Don Waddell. “We believe he has a chance to be a very good player for us and are excited about his continued growth as a Blue Jacket.”

The 23-year-old has 27 goals and 56 points in 145 career games.

Chinakhov was selected by the Blue Jackets in the first round, 21st overall, at the 2020 NHL Draft.

Before joining Columbus, Chinakhov captured the Rookie of the Year award in the KHL with Avangard Omsk. He was also part of the team’s run where they won the Gagarin Cup in 2021.
