The St. Louis Blues have provided a bit of clarity about the future of their front office.
The club announced on Thursday that current general manager and president of hockey operations Doug Armstrong has signed a three-year extension through the 2028-29 season.
Alexander Steen has also been named as special assistant to the general manager, and the former Blues forward will take over as GM after the 2025-26 season with Armstrong remaining as president of hockey operations.
Armstrong, 59, is the longest-tenured GM in franchise history, having been at the helm for 14 seasons thus far.
In that time, he led the team to three Central Division titles and the franchise’s first Stanley Cup. He was also named General Manager of the Year in 2012.
Steen, 40, officially retired from his professional playing career after the 2019-20 season and joined the Blues as a player development consultant.
In his 765 regular-season games with the Blues, he scored 195 goals and registered 496 points. Steen played on the Stanley Cup-winning squad in 2019.
The Blues also announced that Tim Taylor has been promoted to assistant general manager and will join Ryan Miller in that role.
