Bruins sign F Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout agreement

The Boston Bruins have signed forward Tyler Johnson to a professional tryout agreement, joining them for training camp, the team announced Saturday.

Johnson, 31, has spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, putting up 17 goals and 14 assists in 67 games last season.

Formerly a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Johnson was a solid playoff contributor and won two Stanley Cups with the Floridian team. He picked up 32 goals and 33 assists in 116 career Stanley Cup playoff games.

The Spokane, Washington, native was signed by the Lightning as an undrafted free agent in 2011 and made his NHL debut in the 2012-13 season. He was named to the all-rookie first team in 2013-14 and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy after finishing with 24 goals and 26 assists in 82 games.

Over his 12-year career, the five-foot-eight forward has 161 goals and 200 assists for 361 points in 589 games.
