Bruins sign winger Craig Smith to three-year, $9.3M deal

Craig Smith talks to the media about signing with the Boston Bruins. He's happy to be on a contending team but the most important thing was what was best for his family.

The Boston Bruins have added winger Craig Smith on a three-year deal, the club announced Saturday.

Smith’s new contract will pay him an average of $3.1 million per year, taking the total deal to $9.3 million.

The 31-year-old forward has spent his entire nine-year NHL tenure with the Nashville Predators organization, suiting up for 661 games at the big-league level and amassing 330 points.

He has topped the 20-goal plateau five times in his career, and finished just two goals shy at 18 during the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 campaign.

Per Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the breakdown of Smith’s salary over the course of the three year deal is as follows: $2 million in Year 1, $3 million in Year 2, and $4.3 million in Year 3.
