Canadiens’ Evans exits game vs. Islanders with lower-body injury

Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans suffered a lower-body injury Saturday night against the New York Islanders.

The injury occurred following a faceoff at centre ice towards the end of the first period, when Islanders forward Brock Nelson fell on top of him. He looked to be in immediate pain and was not on the bench to start the second period. Soon after, the team announced Evans would not return to the game.

Evans, 26, has been playing some of his best hockey of late. Four of his 11 points on the season have come in the past four games.
