Canadiens’ Jake Allen leaves game after collision with Red Wings’ Larkin

Montreal Canadiens goalie Jake Allen has exited Saturday’s game against the Detroit Red Wings after a collision with Dylan Larkin late in the first period.

With Jeff Petry in hard pursuit, Larkin, with the puck, was shoved by Petry and went crashing into Allen, sending the goalie’s helmet flying and knocking the net off late in the first period.

Allen stayed in the net initially until the next whistle when he left for the dressing room and backup Samuel Montembeault entered the game during the final minute of the period. The 31-year-old Allen did not return to the bench for the second period.

Petry appeared to have a loose tooth after the hit.
