Canadiens re-sign defenceman Arber Xhekaj to two-year deal

Canadiens dman Arber Xhekaj looks back on his NHL journey after signing his new two-year contract extension, says it's been fast, but he's definitely grateful for all the years he's played, and can't wait for the competition for roster spots at camp.

The Montreal Canadiens re-signed defenceman Arber Xhekaj to a two-year, $2.6-million contract, the team announced Tuesday.

In 44 games last season, Xehaj had 10 points and was second on the team in plus/minus. He also lead all defenceman on the Canadiens with 125 hits.

The 23-year-old was signed as an undrafted free agent in October 2021.
