Canadiens sign forward Alex Barre-Boulet to one-year contract

The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Alex Barre-Boulet to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.

The deal is worth $775,000, TVA Sports’ Renaud Lavoie has learned.

Barre-Boulet had nine points (six goals and three assists) in 36 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the regular season.

The 27-year-old from Montmagny, Que., also had 19 points (four goals and 15 assists) in 23 games with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch. He added four goals and three assists in eight playoff games.

Barre-Boulet signed with the Lightning as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Kraken in October 2021. However, after two games with the Kraken, he was placed back on waivers and reclaimed by the Lightning.

He has 18 points (12 goals and six assists) in 68 career games with the Lightning and Kraken.
