Canadiens sign goalie Connor Hughes to one-year, two-way contract

The Montreal Canadiens added to their goaltending depth by signing Connor Hughes to a one-year, two-way contract on Tuesday.

Hughes, 27, was 10-6-1 with two shutouts, in 19 games with Lausanne HC in the Swiss National League in 2023-24. The six-foot-four, 231-pound netminder had a 1.73 goals-against average and a .940 save percentage.

Hughes then helped his team reach the Swiss final in the playoffs.

Undrafted in the NHL, the native of London, Ont., has played in Switzerland since turning pro in 2017.

Hughes represented Canada at the 2023 Spengler Cup.
