Canadiens sign Juraj Slafkovsky to eight-year extension

The Montreal Canadiens have locked up one of their young core for another eight years.

Montreal signed forward Juraj Slafkovsky to an eight-year, $60.8 million contract extension on Monday, the team announced.

The deal will carry an AAV of $7.6 million.

Slafkovsky, 20, recorded 20 goals and 30 assists in 82 games with the Canadiens in 2023-24. He became the first player in Canadiens history to record 40 points in a single season before the age of 20.

The Canadiens drafted Slafkovsky No. 1 overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. The six-foot-three winger is leading the 2022 draft class in games played (121), goals (24), assists (36) and points (60).
