Canucks assign prospect Aatu Raty to AHL Abbotsford

One of the Vancouver Canucks‘ top prospects is going to see some more reps in the AHL.

The team announced on Wednesday that they’ve assigned forward Aatu Raty to the Abbotsford Canucks — their AHL affiliate — after earning a roster spot on the big league club out of camp.

Raty has suited up in all three outings for the Canucks in 2024-25, earning one assist in 9:41 average TOI.

Winless through three games, the Canucks are struggling to replicate last season’s hot start that led them to a Pacific Division title and Game 7 of the second round. If head coach Rick Tocchet was looking for a lineup change, sending Raty to the AHL will afford him some playing time as the Canucks look to get back on their feet.

Raty, 21, was acquired by the Canucks as part of the trade that sent former captain Bo Horvat to the New York Islanders. In 18 career NHL games, the Oulu, Finland native has two goals and two assists.
