Canucks’ Friedman leaves game vs. Avalanche with injury

Vancouver Canucks defenceman Mark Friedman will not return against the Colorado Avalanche after leaving with an undisclosed injury in the second period, the team announced.

Friedman was injured after the puck hit Avalanche forward Valeri Nichushkin, who then fell on top of Friedman. Both players tumbled to the ice with Friedman appearing to his hit head in the process.

Friedman and Nichushkin went to the dressing room shortly after.

Friedman was acquired by the Canucks on Oct. 17 from the Pittsburgh Penguins as part of the deal that sent Jack Rathbone to Pittsburgh.

He’s appeared in 14 games this season, registering one assist.
