The Vancouver Canucks signed goaltender Dylan Ferguson to a professional tryout, general manager Patrik Allvin announced on Sunday.
Ferguson, 25, played for HC Dinamo Minsk of the KHL last season, where he recorded a .904 save percentage and 2.51 goals-against average in 23 starts.
Prior to his move to the KHL, Ferguson played for the Vegas Golden Knights, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators organizations most recently appearing in eight games for the Belleville Senators in 2022-23.
The Canucks are entering training camp with their starting and backup goaltenders recovering from injuries. Vezina Trophy runner-up Thatcher Demko is on the mend from a knee injury that sidelined him for most of the playoffs and is expected to miss the pre-season while Arturs Silovs suffered knee ligament inflammation during off-season training.
Allvin told Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre that the club planned to bring in temporary goaltending options so that there are the requisite six netminders needed for the three training groups head coach Rick Tocchet plans to use at camp.
Canucks training camp runs from Sept. 19-22 in Penticton, B.C.
