The Canadian forward agreed to a one-year deal that will run through the 2023-24 season, the Chicago Blackhawks announced Friday. The contract is worth $4 million.
The team gave up a seventh-round pick in next year’s draft to acquire the 38-year-old veteran from the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday.
First drafted in the first round of the 2003 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks, Perry has suited up in 1,257 career regular-season games, racking up 883 points (417 goals, 466 assists). Over his 18-year-long career, the Peterborough, Ont., native has skated in 196 playoff games, helped the Ducks win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, and earned the title of the league’s most valuable player, capturing the Hart Memorial Trophy in 2011.
