Corey Perry could make Oilers debut Saturday vs. Predators

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said the club is targeting Saturday’s game at home against the Nashville Predators for Corey Perry‘s debut.

Knoblauch said the goal is for Perry to get a full week of practice in before suiting up for a game.

“I think that it’s important that he practices with us for a while,” Knoblauch said. “And the timeline is not definite, but I think the best (bet) is probably practising for a week and possibly playing that Saturday game. That’s just a timeline, that’s not definite.”

Perry did take the ice with his new teammates on Monday. The Oilers host the Blue Jackets on Tuesday and the Blackhawks on Thursday.

After the Predators game, the Oilers will have nine days off for the all-star break before resuming their schedule on Feb. 6 at Vegas.

The Oilers announced the contract agreement with Perry on Monday. The veteran forward was a free agent after his contract was terminated by the Blackhawks in November.
