Coyotes acquire Sean Durzi from Kings in exchange for 2024 second-round pick

The Arizona Coyotes have acquired defenceman Sean Durzi from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft.

The 24-year-old Durzi was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round (52nd overall) in 2018 and was traded to the Kings. After spending his first two professional seasons in the minors playing for the Ontario Reign, he made his NHL debut in November of 2021.

The 2022-23 season was the first Durzi spent entirely with the Kings. The Mississauga, Ont., native recorded 38 points (nine goals and 29 assists) in 72 games over the regular season.

“Sean is a reliable two-way defenceman who has good vision and contributes offensively,” said Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong. “He will be a very good addition to our blue line and we look forward to having him on our roster this season.”

The second-round pick in 2024 that the Coyotes traded to the Kings was originally owned by the Montreal Canadiens, which they sent away in exchange for Christian Dvorak back in Sept. 2021.
