The San Jose Sharks entered play Tuesday three periods away from becoming the first NHL team to lose 12 games to start a season.
But, thanks to some spectacular goaltending by MacKenzie Blackwood and despite plenty of high-quality scoring chances by the Philadelphia Flyers, the Sharks avoided that dubious historic milestone.
The Sharks picked up a 2-1 win over the Flyers to improve to 1-10-1 on the season.
