Anaheim Ducks forward Leo Carlsson is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a sprained MCL on Thursday against the Calgary Flames.
Carlsson collided awkwardly with Flames defenceman MacKenzie Weegar along the boards. Weegar fell on Carlsson, who appeared to injure his knee.
Visibly in pain, Carlsson was helped off the ice by teammates and didn’t appear to put weight on his right leg.
Carlsson, selected second-overall by the Ducks at the 2023 NHL Draft, has eight goals and 15 points through 23 games in his rookie campaign. The 18-year-old previously suffered an injury to his right leg during training camp, but was able to make his NHL debut shortly after the regular season began.
