Filip Chytil out, Blake Wheeler returns for Rangers in Game 4 vs. Panthers

As they look to take a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference Final, the New York Rangers are making a couple of changes to their lineup.

Filip Chytil won’t play in Game 4 after skating the first three games of the series against the Florida Panthers as the team looks to manage his comeback from a head injury suffered in the regular season.

Chytil has not recorded a point in the series, but did log over 20 minutes of ice time in New York’s Game 2 win.

In place of Chytil, Blake Wheeler will make his much-anticipated return to the lineup. He has been out with an injury since February. He was placed on the injured reserve for the remainder of the regular season, but has been participating in practice the past few weeks and was allowed to take off his non-contact jersey before the series began.

The Rangers signed Wheeler last summer after his contract was bought out by the Winnipeg Jets. Before his injury, Wheeler registered 21 points in 54 games this season.

The Panthers made a pair of changes to their forward lines for Game 4, with Kyle Okposo and Steven Lorentz going in, and Nick Cousins and Ryan Lomberg coming out.
