Flames’ Kuznetsov to make NHL debut vs. Senators, Dube healthy scratch

Another Calgary Flames youngster will get a chance to make his NHL debut as defenceman Yan Kuznetsov is expected to be in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators, according to Sportsnet’s Pat Steinberg.

Kuznetsov was selected by the Flames in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft.

In 31 games with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers this season, the Russian defencemen has recorded two goals and five assists.

Kuznetsov is just the latest Flames prospect to get a shot with the big club, joining the likes of Connor Zary and Martin Pospisil who also made their NHL debut this season.

With Kuznetsov in, both Dillon Dube and Jordan Oesterle are expected to be healthy scratches.

Dube had a terrific end to last season, but has struggled this season as he has just three goals and four assists in 39 games.

The Flames and Kuznetsov will look to snap a two-game losing streak against the slumping Senators. You can watch the game on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ at 9 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. MT.
