Flyers sign 2020 fourth round pick Zayde Wisdom to entry-level deal

The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with forward Zayde Wisdom.

Wisdom was the Flyers’ fourth-round pick from the 2020 NHL Draft after Philadelphia moved up to 94th overall to select him. The Kingston Frontenacs winger finished second on the team in scoring with 29 goals and 59 points in 62 games during the 2019-20 season.

“Somewhat surprising to us, Wisdom was still available in the late third and we scrambled to try to pick up an extra pick there to select him,” Flyers president and general manager Chuck Fletcher said after picking Wisdom. “I think he’s got an understated skill level. His hands are pretty good. He has a good shot. He has good instincts. He goes to the right places on the ice. When you combine that with his relentless pursuit of pucks, his ability to forecheck and finish checks, it’s a pretty attractive package.

The Toronto native won the OHL’s E.J. McGuire Award of Excellence for exemplifying a commitment to excellence through strength of character, competitiveness, and athleticism. Travis Konecny had won the award back in 2015 when he was drafted by the Flyers.
