Flyers sign prospect Matvei Michkov to three-year entry-level contract

The Philadelphia Flyers and top prospect Matvei Michkov have agreed on a three-year entry-level contract.

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported last month that the Flyers and Michkov were trying to avoid a noisy negotiation, with the Russian forward still having one year left on his deal with SKA St. Petersburg but was released last week in order to make the move to the NHL.

The Flyers drafted Michkov with the seventh pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. It was expected that he would not be available to join the NHL until the 2026-27 season due to his contractual obligations with St. Petersburg.

The 19-year-old spent the last two seasons playing with Sochi, which is affiliated with SKA. In 47 games during the 2023-24 season, he scored 19 goals and 41 points.
