Defenceman Gustav Forsling and the Florida Panthers have agreed to an eight-year extension, GM Bill Zito told reporters on Thursday.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports that Forsling’s extension carries a $5.75 million cap hit. He is in the last season of a three-year deal worth $8 million that carried an AAV of $2.67 million.
Forsling, 26, was a fifth-round pick (126th overall) by the Vancouver Canucks in 2014. In 360 games with the Chicago Blackhawks and Panthers, the Swede has 45 goals and 108 assists for 153 points.
