Goaltender Frederik Andersen is staying with the Carolina Hurricanes, agreeing to a two-year deal for $6.8 million, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.
The decision means the Hurricanes are bringing back their top two goalies from last season after Antti Raanta signed a one-year deal with the club earlier Saturday.
The Danish-born Andersen, 33, was 21-11-1 with a 2.48 goals-against average and .903 save percentage this past season for the Hurricanes.
In 479 career games with the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Hurricanes, Andersen is 282-125-52 with a 2.58 GAA and .915 save percentage.
The Hurricanes originally selected Andersen in the seventh round (187th overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft, but he didn’t sign. The Ducks then took him in the third round (87th overall) two years later.
