Goaltender James Reimer signs one-year deal with Sabres

The Buffalo Sabres have added some competition for their young goaltenders.

Veteran James Reimer signed a one-year, $1-million deal with the Sabres on Tuesday.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi have the inside track on the top two netminding jobs for the Sabres, so Reimer projects as a No. 3 to start.

The 36-year-old went 11-8-2 with a .904 save percentage and two shutouts in 25 games last season with the Detroit Red Wings.

A fourth-round pick (99th overall) by the Maple Leafs in 2006, Reimer has a career 2.88 GAA and .910 save percentage in 510 career games with Toronto, the San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes and Red Wings.
