Golden Knights trade forward Evgenii Dadonov to Ducks

Update: This trade is in limbo and may not be completed due to an issue related to Evgenii Dadonov’s no-trade clause.

The Golden Knights released a statement saying they “have become aware of an issue with respect to the [Dadonov] trade” and are consulting with the league office.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Anaheim was among 10 teams on Dadonov’s no-trade list but that list was submitted before a deadline on July 21, 2021 — when Dadonov was still a member of the Ottawa Senators. He was traded to the Golden Knights on July 28 but at issue is whether Dadonov’s no-trade list was transferred to Vegas.

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded Evgenii Dadonov to the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks also get a conditional second-round selection in 2023 or 2024 from Vegas, while the Golden Knights acquire AHL defenceman John Moore and the contract of Ryan Kesler, who hasn’t played since 2018-19.

With the trade, Vegas moves off Dadonov’s $5-million cap hit, which lasts until the end of next season. Dadonov joins his fourth team in the last three seasons.

The 33-year-old has 15 goals and 12 assists in 62 games this season, and 249 points in 397 career games.

Moore has appeared in 544 career NHL games, registering 38 goals and 80 assists.
