Hurricanes sign defenceman Ian Cole to one-year contract

The Carolina Hurricanes inked defenceman Ian Cole to a one-year, $2.9 million contract, the team announced Wednesday.

Cole won back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

The 32-year-old from Ann Arbor, Mich., played two games with the Colorado Avalanche last season before being traded to the Minnesota Wild where he suited up for 52 games recording one goal and seven assists for eight points.
