The Boston Bruins have signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a two-year contract extension with an average annual value of $4 million.
DeBrusk had made a trade request earlier this season and it was thought he might still be moved before Monday’s deadline. However, no trade was reached and DeBrusk will finish the season with the Bruins.
The former 14th overall pick in the 2015 NHL draft picked up 15 goals and 11 assists in 57 games this season.
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney confirmed back in November of 2021 that DeBrusk was looking to get moved as he struggled to carve out a consistent top-six role in Boston. DeBrusk was a pending restricted free agent and now by having him signed to a new deal, there is more cost certainty for a team looking to acquire the 25-year-old in the off-season.
