Winnipeg Jets forward Kyle Connor has won the Lady Byng Trophy, the NHL announced Monday.

The Lady Byng is presented annually to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability.

Connor was named on 181 of the 195 ballots cast, including 122 first-place selections. He finished ahead of Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Jaccob Slavin, who won the award last season, and Minnesota Wild defenceman Jared Spurgeon.

Connor set personal highs with 47 goals and 93 points and had nine game-winners. He did so while receiving only four penalty minutes during his 79 appearances – the fewest among the top 100 scorers this season..

Connor, a first-time finalist, is the first Jet to capture the award.
