As the Winnipeg Jets introduced head coach Scott Arniel Monday, general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff announced that the team will be mutually parting ways with assistant coach Brad Lauer.
Lauer joined the Jets’ coaching staff in the summer of 2022 after serving as the head coach of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings from 2018 until being hired in Winnipeg.
The 57-year-old was the head coach of the Kootenay Ice from the 2002-03 season until 2006-07 before being hired to coach with the Nashville Predators AHL’s affiliate for the next two years.
From there, he went on to join the Ottawa Senators as an assistant coach for two seasons. Lauer also spent time in the Anaheim Ducks organization.
Lauer was drafted 35th overall by the New York Islanders in 1985. He went on to play 323 career games with the Islanders, Senators, Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins.
